History
The Michael J. Grant Funeral Home was founded in 1957 by Michael J. Grant Sr. and Georgia J. Grant. Michael J. Grant Sr., a native of Long Island, was raised in Central Islip. His wife, Georgia, was born in Glendale, California. The two met while Mike was in the Navy, during the Korean War. Mike and Georgia settled in Brentwood, where they raised their five children, Michael, Patricia, Colleen, Eileen, and Alison.
Mike and Georgia were actively involved in the local community and volunteered countless hours to the Brentwood Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. They are lifetime members of the Brentwood Legion Ambulance and served as its first dispatchers. The Suffolk Community College campus in Brentwood is named in honor of Michael Grant for his foresight in recognizing the need for a college campus at its present site. Residents of Brentwood and the surrounding towns fondly recall Mike and Georgia's presence and continue to value the helping nature and community spirit that is representative of the staff at the Michael J. Grant Funeral Home. In 1995, Michael J. Grant, Jr. expanded the business to Coram, where exceptional funeral service and community involvement is also implemented.
Presently, Mike Grant, Jr. manages the daily operations of both the Brentwood and Coram facilities with the same ideals and high standards set forth by his parents. At the Michael J. Grant Funeral Homes, Inc., quality affordable funeral service is guaranteed. The dedicated staff is attentive to the needs of each and every family and will ensure that loved ones are treated with dignity and respect.
