Obituary

OBITUARY FOR HELEN BOHAN

New York – Helen Bohan, a long-time resident of Jackson Heights, Queens, died on Tuesday, the 28th of January 2020, at Southside Hospital, Bayshore, Long Island, at the age of 93. She was attended by close friends and family members.

Born in New York City on January 22nd, 1927, she lived there most of her life. Helen graduated high school in New York and worked for a time in the garment industry as a seamstress. She met and married her long-time husband, Daniel Bohan of Chicago, a decorated Korean War veteran, in the 1950’s at a USO dance, and remained married to him for over 60 years until his death.

Helen enjoyed cooking and socializing with friends and relatives. She had a vibrant personality and memorable sense of humor which she shared with all who knew her. She was a regular parishioner at Saint Joan of Arc Church in Queens and made many friends there.

Helen grew up one of five siblings, herself, one sister, Catherine, and three brothers, Peter, John, and Paul, who have all predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved son, Daniel Bohan, Jr. and his wife, Rosita, who reside in New Jersey. She had many nieces and nephews, all grown, spread across the country, who adored her and all referred to her lovingly as “Aunt Helen”. She has been laid to rest at Calverton Cemetery on Long Island alongside her beloved husband, Daniel.
